Hy-Vee has issued a voluntary recall of eight cheese products due to potential contamination.

The regional grocery store was alerted by the manufacturer of a possible listeria monocytogenes contamination. There are several products impacted by this potential outbreak.

The products are: Cranberry Brie Torte, Apricot Brie Torte, Triple Crème Brie, Montamore Cheddar, and Aged Gouda Cheese board, Sparkling Fruit and Cheese board, La Bonne Vie Domestic Double Crème Brie, La Bonne Vie French Double Crème Brie, Bon Appetite gift basket, and Deluxe Delights gift basket.

The "best by" expiration on those products ranges from September 28th to December 14th. Hy-Vee's press release also adds that at this time, no illnesses have been reported. This recall is out of an abundance of caution. Customers who purchased any of the listed items should discard them immediately or take them back to Hy-Vee for a refund.

Listeria, also know as listeriosis, is a bacterial infection caused by eating contaminated food. On average, 1,6000 people get listeriosis each year; about 260 die from it. The infection is likelier to sicken pregnant women, their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and immunocompromised individuals.
This recall affects Hy-Vee grocery stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
