Kevin Dragotto from the election office has the following reminders and information for Dubuque County voters.  As election season starts to ramp up, voters are reminded that they may receive absentee ballot request forms in the mail from political parties or various interest groups, but voters only need to send ONE request form to the Election Office.

If a voter is unsure whether their request form has been received, they can check online at Track Your Absentee Ballot at: voterready.iowa.gov.  This online check can be used for tracking both request forms and absentee ballots. If a voter doesn’t have online access, they can call the Election Office at 563.589.4457.

For those who have requested an absentee ballot by mail, ballots are able to be mailed on October 19th. If the county receives multiple request forms from a voter, the voter will only receive ONE ballot, when they begin mailing them on Wednesday, October 19th.

As they receive request forms, they log the request in the state-wide voter database hosted by the Iowa Secretary of State. If they receive additional request forms, the staff will see that a ballot has already been requested and additional requests cannot be added to the database. The number assigned to the original request will be put on the additional request and the forms will be filed together.

Dubuque County voters will, again, have various ways to participate in the upcoming November 8th general election –

1) Vote in person on Election Day at their polling place. Polls are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm

2) Vote early in person, starting Wednesday, October 19th at the Election Office at the Court House or adjacent Old Jail, 720 Central Ave. Hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

3) Vote early by mail. The deadline to submit a request form is Monday, October 24th by 5:00 pm.
