Here's an update from the Dubuque Police Department regarding yesterday's shots fired report near the Mississippi River

On Monday, August 17th, 2015, at 3:52 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to 1630 East 16th Street (Dubuque Yacht Basin/American Marine) on the report of shots fired.  The complainants were identified as Jeanette E. Packer, and her husband, Frederick J. Packer, both 59, and from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The Packers reported a gray or silver, newer model sport-utility vehicle occupied by two young males, stopped on the frontage road near the marina and fired a shot, perceivably at them in their docked boat.  Frederick has a weapon permit and retrieved his handgun and returned fire.  The vehicle fled the area in an easterly direction and was not relocated.  No injuries or property damage was located or reported.  After being interviewed by officers and investigators, the Packers were released and no charges have been filed.  Investigators continue to pursue leads and the investigation remains ongoing.
