Tips to Avoid Coyote Conflict
Coyote mating season is underway. We're blessed in the tri-state area with lots of habitat for coyotes to roam, so coyote-human conflicts are rare around here. It is coyote mating season however, and that can mean unusual coyote behavior.
The Urban Coyote Research Project offers these tips to avoid conflict with a coyote:
- Do not feed coyotes
- Do not let pets run loose
- Do not run from a coyote
- Repellents or fencing may help
- Do not create conflict where it does not exist
- Report aggressive, fearless coyotes immediately
