Fans of NBC's hit reality show The Voice knew that Tuesday (Dec. 12) was going to be a rough night. The eight -- all very talented -- finalists were going to be whittled severely down to four, which means basically one of everybody's favorites was going to be sent home.

For those who are interested particularly in country music, the bloodbath turned out to be not so bad after all. Two of Team Blake Shelton's singers made it through: The rock-oriented Chloe Kohanski, and the particularly authentic country singer Red Marlow.

Marlow, 40, who won hearts as the Nashville-based "everyman" -- a preacher's son who loves skeet shooting, fishing and hunting; and consistently delivered solid classic country numbers every week -- competed with Alabama's 1983 hit "Dixieland Delight." His performance was part of the "middle three" singing for one last Instant Save, and it was plenty good enough to pull him ahead of Team Adam Levine's country favorite Adam Cunningham (who pulled out a Travis Tritt gem) and Team Jennifer Hudson's Noah Mac (who gave an uneven take on Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times").

Advancing to the final week are Marlow, Kohanski, Addison Agen (Team Adam), and Brooke Simpson (Team Miley Cyrus). This means that Shelton has a 50% chance of being the victorious coach when we find out who wins next Tuesday (Dec. 19).
