Potosi Brewery Serves Up Delicious Samples and Incredible History
Below this article is a gallery of photos from the Saturday brewery tour!
I still have so much of the Tri-States left to explore. That's why when my friend told me he was coming out for the final weekend in the July, my first thought was to check out the serene, scenic town of Potosi, WI. I had one destination in mind: the Potosi Brewery.
A quick ride from Dubuque at only 26 minutes, the Potosi Brewery is a multi-layered experience, both figuratively and literally. There is a restaurant on the first floor, a beer museum on the second, and a tour that allows you to get a peek at the brewing process.
My friend and I arrived in time for the tour (which you will see in-depth below). The tour takes you through the restaurant building, which is a museum of classic Potosi bottles, cans, and branding. From there, you head to the nearby tasting room, attached to the brewery itself. You get a peek at the brewing process and what's behind such favorites as Good Old Potosi and Lux Lager.
Before you even wonder whether or not the tour comes with beer samples, the answer is yes. I had my first sip of Potosi a few months back when I tasted multiple craft beers from Iowa and Wisconsin. It was Good Old Potosi, the brewery's golden ale. What a treat it was to have it a second time, ice-cold on draft. In addition, there was a limited run apricot beer that won me over; probably my favorite of the entire trip.
Then there's the aforementioned Lux Lager, which tastes exactly how a light American lager should taste: crisp, refreshing, and flavorful.
The Potosi Brewery has a ton to offer. I captured a fraction of it in the gallery below! You can find our more information about the brewery tour here as well as all the beers they offer!
Potosi Brewery is located at 209 South Main Street in Potosi, WI.
