U.S. Marshals arrested an Iowa man in Michigan today who is wanted on charges of 1st Degree Murder and Possession of Offensive Weapon by a Felon.

On July 2, investigators with the Dubuque Police Department identified Deonte Ellison, 25, as the suspect involved in an altercation which led to the murder of another individual in the 400 block of Loras Boulevard in Dubuque and issued the warrant July 3.
Believing Ellison had fled the state, the Dubuque Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force.  Marshals immediately began the hunt for him.  Working with the U.S. Marshals in the Western District of Michigan, task force officers identified a number of potential locations for Ellison.
On the morning of July 14, U.S. Marshals narrowed the search for Ellison to a residence in the 700 block of Burdick Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  Shortly after 10 a.m., Marshals identified Ellison exiting a residence and took him into custody without incident.  Ellison was transported to the Kalamazoo County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Dubuque.
