According to the website, in addition to City Life, the Office of Shared Prosperity & Neighborhood Support leads the effort to create a thriving community through promoting equity and eliminating barriers and disparities for the city's most vulnerable residents.
Within the city government, the Office of Shared Prosperity & Neighborhood Development works to implement the City's Equitable Poverty Reduction & Prevention Plan. The plan specifically addresses the common determinants of poverty in an effort to reduce, and prevent poverty in our local community. Those determinants are; Economic Insecurity, Transportation, Education, Physical and Brain Health, Racial Equity, Affordable Safe Housing, Early Childhood Resources.
The plan’s implementation will further engage residents and collaborate with members of the local community, businesses & organizations, financial & anchor institutions, government, non-profits, philanthropists, faith and school leaders, and community members, who are living with, or have lived with, the stress of poverty. The process continues to examine existing programs for success, by identifying trends and best practices.
