Billy Currington is certainly doing something right as he hits the road to start spreading summertime vibes on his Stay Up ’Til the Sun Tour. Bringing the tour through Sayreville, N.J., the country star showed the crowd just how country boys roll
Currington played through his 17-song setlist with his customary good humor. To start the spread of summer, he began with the No. 1 single "Don't It" from his latest album, Summer Forever, followed by “That's How Country Boys Roll,” "Love Done Gone” and “I Got a Feeling.’”
After delivering "Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and a soulful "Let Me Down Easy," Currington dedicated his latest radio hit, "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To," to "all the homeboys to take care of their heartaches."
When he played fan favorite "People Are Crazy," the crowd erupted as he belted out the chorus, “God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy”.
“This one song I want to play I’ve been playing with the full band for all these years, but when I first started playing it, it just had me and my guitar going from radio to radio station through the U.S. and I kind of miss playing it,” Currington said before playing “Must Be Doing Something Right.”
Currington set up an acoustic version of “Don’t” by explaining, "There’s a song that we stopped playing for a few years. It was a No. 1 record for me and I really loved singing it, but this one got kicked out of the setlist five years ago, but we are bringing it back tonight.“
Closing out the show, Currington paid tribute to Garth Brooks with a cover of “Friends in Low Places” before ending with “We Are Tonight” and “Good Directions.”
Currington will continue his “Stay Up ’Till The Sun Tour” throughout the rest of the spring before a summer schedule of festival appearances.
