Long before the Barenaked Ladies released their song conjuring up ways to hypothetically spend one million dollars, all of us have thought about how we'd spend such a large lump sum of money. Well, if you have seven figures lying around, and it's burning a hole in your pocket, there's a must-see palatial estate available in Dubuque.

Located at 1155 Grove Terrace in Dubuque, not too far from Avon Park, this monstrous seven-bedroom, six-bathroom, 6,700+ square-foot property oozes character. A towering structure, this Queen Anne-style mansion was built in the 1880s and boasts impeccable architecture and a plethora of nooks and crannies.

The house itself sits in the heart of downtown Dubuque, perched on a large bluff that comes with an unbeatable view of the Mississippi River. The exterior alone is gorgeous. A product of Dubuque-area architect Franklin D. Hyde, the roof "employs a series of jerk-in-head or clipped gables to convey a thatched roof effect," according to the Zillow listing.

From the outside, you can see multiple balconies, several long stretches of porch (I could already find several spots for a rocking chair and a cooler), and a neatly manicured lawn.

The main level alone features a grand living room, a significant family room, a private office, a dining room, and an extensive kitchen complete with a Viking stove (more on that in a moment).

You'll notice there are more than a few plants around the home. I couldn't be trusted to keep more than two alive let alone all this house has to offer. I have no idea what the previous owners did for a living to be able to afford this house; I don't think "plant caretaker" would've paid for the property taxes, though.

Moving on to the kitchen, this Grand Terrace mansion boasts gorgeous granite countertops that standout in a kitchen with a lot of character. The cabinetry is attractive as well. But that stove caught my eye immediately.

The house is equipped with a Viking stove, a line of kitchen appliances that hit the market in the late 1980s. It's a luxury line of stoves, some of which the pinnacle for all-in-one cooking. This one comes with a deep fryer and a built-in grill that separates four burners. If only I knew how to cook more than just basic meals!

I believe this is just one of a couple fireplaces inside this home. The second floor of this mansion features a master bedroom suite, a laundry room, another large bedroom, a library room, a foyer, and more.

Despite the Zillow listing claiming the house features a total of seven bedrooms, this was the only photo available. It looks like it could've feasibly been a kid's room. You can't help but wonder how opulent that master bedroom is (or why they wouldn't want to show it off, for that matter).

This appears to be the basement of the home. It's intriguing that the glow of the sun makes this room appear sepia-toned, almost something out of The Wizard of Oz. You can see a fireplace, some very nice brickwork complementing it, and what looks to be a tree-stump converted into a coffee table. Not the projector on the ceiling and the roll-down projector screen near the far wall.

In its present state, between the plants and the décor, the house has an earthy quality to it.

Adding to the earthy qualities of this impeccable mansion is the screenhouse, which engulfs you in the surrounding greenery. I'd love a screenhouse in my future "forever home," but I don't think I have enough money even to rent this room on its own!

The current asking price for this mansion is $1.2 million, according to Zillow. You can find out more information about the property here.
