Here's your chance to do the responsible thing and properly dispose on unwanted electronic devices.

The City of Dubuque Public Works Department, in partnership with the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (DMASWA), will hold an electronics recycling drop-off event on Saturday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Municipal Services Center located at 925 Kerper Ct. in Dubuque.

This event allows the public to drive-up, drop-off, and properly dispose of unused electronics. Participants are asked to have all items easily accessible for quick removal from the vehicle. A $15 fee will be charged per television, laptop, or computer monitor and a $10 fee will be charged for microwaves. Credit/debit cards are encouraged. Other electronics will be accepted free of charge.

Accepted items include:

  • TVs, monitors, and laptops ($15 fee)
  • Microwaves ($10 fee)
  • Computer towers, printers, keyboards, mouse, and cables
  • Cell phones
  • DVD players, VCRs, and stereos
  • Holiday lights
  • Small household appliances such as toasters, toaster ovens, blenders, mixers, etc.
Items not accepted include:
  • Large appliances including, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, freezers, washers/dryers, air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, and water softeners

Appointments are required, and those interested in the event should register online at www.dmaswa.org/electronics or call 563-589-4354 no later than Thursday, May 12.

Those unable to attend this event are reminded of other electronic recycling options available. The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (101 Airborne Rd., formerly 14501 HWY 20 West, now accessed by a frontage road) accepts unused electronics by appointment.
