As we close a year in which countless traditions have been modified or completely dropped, I find a level of comfort knowing the traditional Christmas luminaries are being planned again this year along Plymouth Court and Victoria Place in Dubuque.

This tradition came to Mexico from Spain in the 19th century, and was adopted by this Dubuque neighborhood in 1935.  Look for 1500 luminarias lining the sidewalks on Christmas night beginning at 5:00 PM.

Thank you to everyone involved in keeping this tradition alive and well this year.  Merry Christmas!
