A familiar Dubuque business has opened its third location, this time in Peosta, Iowa.

Steve's Ace Home & Garden's brand new Peosta location just held its soft opening on Monday, April 18th. To continue the festivities, business-owners Jason and Sara Carpenter are planning more grand opening activities throughout the weekend.

This is now the third Steve's Ace location in Dubuque County. The Carpenters own both Dubuque locations at 200 S. Locust Street and 3350 John F. Kennedy Road.

Steve's Ace Home & Garden's origins story goes all the way back to 1988 when it was started by Sara's parents, Steve and Judy Selchert. Sara and her husband Jason took over the business four years ago.

An interesting thing to note about the three locations: they all differ slightly in the realm of what items they carry. For example, Steve's Ace on Locust is what the Carpenters describe as "a tried-and-true hardware store." The JFK location is essentially a hardware store inside a home and garden store.

As of right now, the Carpenters have noted they plan to communicate with their local customers about their specific needs and what products they should stock.

One feature unique to the Peosta location is a self-service dog-washing station, located in the store's pet aisle. Due to shipping delays, the equipment hasn't been set up yet, but it's in the works. Imagine a machine featuring multiple celebrity voices talking you to through how to wash your dog. That's what Steve's Ace customers in Peosta can expect.

The Carpenters jumped at the opportunity to purchase the equipment upon learning Peosta was a big dog community.

The new location takes over an empty lot on Peosta Street, the main north-south road that goes through the city. Steve's Ace Home & Garden is located directly across the street from the Peosta Fire Department.

Steve's Ace Home & Garden is located at 456 Peosta Street. It's open Monday through Friday 8 am to 8 pm, and 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. You can also find them on Facebook.
