Luke Combs joined Brooks & Dunn onstage at the 2019 ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 7), for an ACM Flashback performance. Together, the trio of singers performed a re-imagined version of Brooks & Dunn's 1991 hit "Brand New Man."

The collaboration was inspired. Combs, who clutched a Red Solo cup during the performance, injected contemporary energy and briskness, especially as he hollered the song's chorus.

Combs' presence was infectious, as both Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks matched his upbeat vibe as the song revved up. The former belted out the song as if it was still 1991, while the latter even launched a riotous acoustic guitar solo.

The exuberant performance resonated with the crowd. In fact, both Brandi Carlile and Nicole Kidman were spotted in the audience singing along enthusiastically to the tune.

"Brand New Man" is the title track of Brooks & Dunn's 1991 debut album, which went triple platinum. The song itself -- written by Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and Don Cook -- was their debut single and hit No. 1; at that time, Brooks & Dunn were only the second country band ever to have their first single top the charts.

Combs' collaboration with the legendary country duo is part of Brooks & Dunn's new album, Reboot, that features the pair performing some of their best-loved and most well-known songs with artists including Kacey MusgravesKane BrownThomas RhettBrett YoungLancoAshley McBrydeMidlandBrothers OsborneCody Johnson, Jon Pardi and Tyler Booth. The album dropped on Friday (April 5).

Combs was announced as the New Male Artist of the Year ahead of the 2019 ACM Awards, in late March. He is also up for Male Artist of the Year at the awards ceremony, which is taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
