Lanco had the amazing opportunity to perform on the Ellen DeGeneres Show recently, and it was an even more magical experience than they'd expected — they got to hang with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks backstage!

The up-and-coming country group had the chance to chat with the legendary film actors, who apparently are just as humble and kind as they seem. "I met Meryl Streep and she was so, so nice and asked about the band and was like, 'Oh that must be so fun being a musician, being in a band.' So we talked for a while," frontman Brandon Lancaster raves to Taste of Country Nights.

It sounds like the five-member band also hit it off with Hanks, whom they bonded with over his wife Rita Wilson's career as a songwriter and musician. Turns out, the A-list couple spends time in Nashville often!

"They're in Nashville a lot and so we talked about music. He was really down to Earth," Lancaster continues, speaking of Hanks. "He did say he'd download our music, so there's a sale," he jokes.

Though Hanks has taken on many iconic roles in his career, it's Forrest Gump and Inferno that had the guys praising the revered actor. "Forrest Gump is like by far my favorite movie and we were talking to him and as he left, I realized that the whole time that I had been meeting Tom Hanks I was leaning on a ping pong table and I was like 'how did I not ask him to play," says guitarist Eric Steedly, referencing the infamous ping-pong competition scene in the film. "He's probably gotten that joke a lot."

Lancaster didn't miss the rare opportunity to share with Hanks his admiration of his portrayal of Robert Langdon in the 2016 film Inferno, though. "He was like 'you know...in America, people want to talk about the movie from their childhood,' he's like 'so depending on your age, it'll be Forrest Gump or Splash or Saving Private Ryan or whatever it is. But he was like, 'That's really funny that you say 'cause I don't get those movies as much as Forrest Gump, so that was funny," the Lanco member explains.

Lanco released their debut album Hallelujah Nights on Jan. 19 — it includes their No. 1 single "Greatest Love Story" and current single "Born to Love You." They'll hit the road with Brothers Osborne soon as opening acts on Dierks Bentley's 2018 Mountain High Tour.

Taste of Country Nights is a syndicated night show which airs on more than 100 radio stations nationwide. Listen to highlights on iTunes or your Android device.
