Ken Peiffer, ‘Wild West Wednesdays’ Profiled on KCRG-TV News
It's no secret that 103.3 WJOD's very own Ken Peiffer is a ubiquitous staple in Dubuque and the Tri-State area. Those who were watching the local news last night got to see a familiar face and a wildly popular weekly event get some screen-time in a delightful feature piece from KCRG-TV.
The great folks at KCRG-TV brought their crew down to one of Ken Peiffer's famous "Wild West Wednesday" dances for their "Our Town Dubuque" spotlight. "Wild West Wednesday" takes place every Wednesday night at 7pm at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. Admission is only $5, and the vibe is casual. Several hundred people, from friends to families, couples, neighbors, and more, come out to the fairgrounds every week to dance to country music both old and new.
Everyone from little kids to folks in their 90s stops by to see Ken Peiffer and dance to their favorite country songs.
Also interviewed for KCRG's news segment and subsequent online article was Kevin Kotz, the General Manager of the Dubuque County Fairgrounds, who spoke about how the popularity of "Wild West Wednesday" has absolutely exploded in recent years:
Two years ago, we only had about 250 people a night. Now we average about 500 people a night, all the way up to 750. Let me tell you, when you have the right song comes on, with 750, they’re all out on the floor. - Kevin Kotz, per KCRG
