Jake Owen thought golfer Phil Mickelson owed him an apology and more for a bad round of golf against Tiger Woods last fall, and he didn't miss a chance to demand it.

The singer was at golfer/friend Jordan Spieth's wedding last November when he spotted Mickelson, who had just faced off against Woods in a much-hyped, poorly played round of golf for pay-per-view.

Owen tells Barstool Sports the story, using a few choice expletives — if you're at work or with kids, consider this your NSFW warning.

After a few drinks Owen says he approached Mickelson. "I was like, hey, Phil, you owe me f---ing $29.99 for wasting four hours of my life with the sh---iest golf I've ever seen," Owen tells the Barstool Sports ForePlay podcast. "I want my $29.99 back and apologize to me for some sh---y golf."

Mickelson, widely considered one of the best golfers of all time, had just earned $9 million for playing in the match. So he took out some cash and, according to Owen, said, "I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take one of these and go f--k yourself."

Could Owen be exaggerating? Hours after this news broke on Monday, Mickelson weighed in on Twitter, confirming: "True story."

Don't worry — the pair are friends, and Owen says it was all in good fun:

Owen just released his new studio album Greetings From ... Jake which includes his No. 1 hit "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)" and the Top 10 "Down to the Honkytonk." He's expecting the birth of his second daughter later this spring.

Mickelson is, presumably, still counting his money from the Tiger Woods match.
