Jackson County Iowa Repeals Mask Mandate Today

The mask mandate in Jackson County, Iowa was scheduled to end on May 31st, but last night the Jackson County supervisors voted to repeal the mandate effective immediately.  The decision was made after updated federal health guidance and after requests to drop the mandate so graduation commencements could proceed without face coverings.

Jackson County’s mandate had been in place since November in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to country statistics, as of May 18, 2021, nearly half (48.3%) of the county’s residents who are at least 16 years old have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
