Contained Fire Causes $65K in Damages at Dubuque Residence

According to a news release from the Dubuque Fire Department, a Monday evening fire caused an estimated $65,000 in property damage to a detached garage at a residence on Bluebird Drive in Dubuque.

The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched to 4139 Bluebird Drive at around 6:40 PM on Monday, August 10th after reports were made of a structure on fire. Firefighters and emergency personnel arrived within three minutes and found smoke coming from a detached garage next to a residential structure.

Engine 3 conducted the initial size-up and found fire on both the exterior and interior of the garage. Crews established command and secured a water supply before working to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the nearby residence.

According to the Dubuque Fire Department, the fire was brought under control within three minutes of firefighters arriving at the scene. Additionally, the blaze was contained to the structure where it originated and did not spread to the nearby residence.

The fire department estimated the preliminary property loss at approximately $65,000. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported during the event. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Department, and additional details may be released as the investigation continues.

A total of 18 Dubuque Fire Department personnel from five stations responded to the incident. Units arriving on scene included: Battalion 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, Medic 4 and Car 6. The Dubuque Police Department and Alliant Energy also assisted firefighters at the scene.
