Here’s What to Know About Marshalls Opening in Dubuque This Week

The much-anticipated arrival of Marshalls in Dubuque is coming this week. The popular, off-price retailer is slated to open with special hours, and Kennedy Mall is hoping it will be greatly boost foot traffic for the larger shopping area in general.

Marshalls is set to open its doors on Thursday, August 13th. A part of Kennedy Mall in Dubuque, the retailer will operate with special hours (8am - 10pm) to accommodate as many as possible on its opening day. More than just bargains for shoppers, a lot is riding on the success of this store as it looks to serve as a major tenant for Kennedy Mall.

What You Need to Know About Marshalls Opening in Dubuque:

Telegraph Herald caught up with Joe Bell, the director of corporate communication for Kennedy Mall's management company, Cafaro Co. Bell spoke about how it's incumbent upon malls to bring in quality retailers in order to drive foot traffic, and that's something Kennedy Mall has been doing for years. When you look at the current state of malls in America, Kennedy Mall is thriving with a great deal of variety.

They've welcomed several new stores as of late, including a card/gaming shop this year, a HomeGoods in 2024, and a new Books-A-Million location in 2023. Now, enter Marshalls, a 24,000-square-foot store that offers a barrage of items, including brand-name apparel, beauty products, home decor, shoes, and clothing for men, women, and children.

Marshalls Brings More Jobs to Dubuque — And a Big Donation to a Local Nonprofit:

Not only is Marshall set to bring about 60 full/part-time jobs to the community, they also made a donation of $10,000 to Opening Doors, a local nonprofit that assists women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Marshalls' Kennedy Mall location will mark the store's debut in Dubuque. The company is owned by TJX Companies, which also operates T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Sierra, and HomeSense. This is germane because three of those four stores already exist in Dubuque, with T.J. Maxx and Sierra operating in Asbury Plaza.

Kennedy Mall is Banking on Marshalls in a Number of Ways:

Multiple business officials who spoke to the Telegraph Herald noted that they are predicting Marshalls to bring significant traffic to the mall immediately. In doing so, there's hope that it will boost the other businesses inside the mall as well.

At this time, there are a few vacancies in the mall, but Bell told Telegraph Herald that they are in constant conversation with numerous different tenants, so there's reason to believe more stores will be coming to Kennedy Mall in due time. Cafaro is continuing to work with larger retailers in effort to fill the largest vacancies inside the mall.
