It's no secret that Brock Purdy has been one of the best stories in the NFL since he took over as the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback in December 2022. While he never lost a game he started and finished last year, including the playoffs, a three-game skid after a roaring 5-0 start seemed to stall some momentum in the former Iowa State quarterback's story.

That changed yesterday when the 49ers demolished the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-3. Purdy once again looked efficient and confident after a shaky three weeks. The 49ers were coming off a bye week, and perhaps the Hawkeye State was the secret sauce that provided Purdy some time for reflection.

Per The Des Moines Register, Purdy spent some of the 49ers' bye week harvesting crops in Iowa. While Purdy is technically an Arizona native, his fiancée, Jenna Brandt and her family, reside in Iowa (they met when Purdy was attending Iowa State). Brandt played volleyball at Northern Iowa and Iowa State, per The Des Moines Register.

Brandt took to Instagram and posted a short clip of Purdy harvesting her family's farm. It had to be a very therapeutic practice after a couple brutal weeks for Purdy and the 49ers.

There's also reason to believe it was the secret sauce in the 49ers utterly dismantling a tough opponent in Jacksonville. The bye week came at the right time for a team that became stagnant during a three-game losing streak. Purdy was turning the ball over at an unusual late and the 49ers' perennially stout defense wilted in big spots. This was the best case scenario for a get-right game that you could've asked for.

Now, Brock Purdy and the 49ers look to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in San Francisco on Sunday, November 19th. Purdy likely won't have time for more harvesting, but it's again the prime spot for a clean and accomplished game from the "Mr. Irrelevant" quarterback who is so easy to root for.
