The Des Moines Register reports that an Iowa bakery has made USA TODAY's 10BEST Reader's Choice Awards list of the best doughnut shops in the United States. A panel of experts put The Bakery Unlimited in Winterset, Iowa, on the list! The bakery ranked 3rd on this year's list. It also finished 3rd in 2025, and was ranked 5th in 2024, according to the Register.

What Makes The Bakery Unlimited So Great?

The Register reports that USA TODAY was a big fan of the bakery's Maple Bacon Long Johns and the classic apple crisp doughnut. The bakery shared the news on social media.

The Register reports that the doughnuts at The Bakery Unlimited are made with owner Kate Sparks' mother's original recipe, and are known for being extra soft and fluffy! And they are very popular with the locals, as USA TODAY notes that on Saturday mornings, the line at The Bakery Unlimited stretches out the door!
