Iowa Man Asks ‘Will I Ever Get Used to This Wedding Ring?’
Do you see the little ring sitting around my left ring finger in this photo? I'm so proud of having it and I'm extremely grateful for what it represents. Being Kori's husband is something I take a lot of pride in and I will never take it for granted.
Now that all of the sweet and mushy stuff is over...wearing a wedding ring is the most annoying thing in the world!
I have tried so dang hard to get used to wearing a wedding ring every day. I want to wear it. I think it's a very quiet way to show off to the rest of the world that I've committed my love to another person. Also, I think it looks cool! It's a tungsten steel ring with wood you would find in Hawaii around the center. I wanted to find something different and unique.
There's just one problem...It's starting to drive me insane.
I'm not sure if I have a problem with my sensory receptors but I can always feel that my ring is there. You'd think I would just get used to it after wearing it for a little over two months and it would feel normal by now. I'm constantly fiddling around with it and rotating it. I'm always trying to find a sweet spot for it to sit. What's even weirder is it's not my actual ring finger that bothers me. It's my pinky and middle finger that can't seem to get used to it.
Before asking if it's the correct size...the answer is yes. It fits perfectly fine. I can take it off with just a tiny bit of pressure and it slides right back on with a tiny bit of force. If I shake my hand around, it doesn't move or slide around. For some reason, I just can't get used to wearing the dang thing.
Am I insane? Is there anyone else, man or woman, who's had this issue? I've made the switch to wearing a silicone ring daily. It's a bit lighter and it doesn't feel as annoyingly heavy. I still notice it's there and I fiddle with it but it doesn't feel as bad. I only bust out the nice ring for special occasions or events.
My wife doesn't care whether I wear the ring or not. It doesn't matter to her if I have it on. I just wish I didn't always notice/feel that I have it on.
Let me know if you've had a problem like this. What did you do? Did you just take it off? I know some people work jobs that could cost them a finger if their ring gets caught on something. Did you make a necklace out of it? Am I just nuts?
