Gwen Stefani Addresses Massive Diamond Ring She Wore on Left Ring Finger at People’s Choice Awards
Gwen Stefani addressed the larger-than-life diamond ring that was on her left-hand ring finger at Sunday (Nov. 11) night's People's Choice Awards.
The 50-year-old singer and fashionista was honored with the Fashion Icon award during the show, and walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Blake Shelton, a somewhat rare occurrence. But despite how adorable the couple looked together, all eyes were zooming in Stefani's particularly giant diamond ring that just happened to be worn on a significant finger.
"It might be a real ring, a real diamond...but it's not a wedding ring. No, no," Stefani told E! News after accepting her award. She blamed it on wardrobe logistics: "It actually doesn't fit over the glove on this hand, so I put it on this hand. But good, right?"
Stefani coyly turned the conversation to the fact that her beau is rarely seen with her on the carpet. "He never does the red carpet! I think we've only done, like, three," she said. "It's not his thing, he's an Oklahoma guy."
At any rate, Stefani noted, ""When I have something to say, I'll say it."
Things seem to be going swimmingly for the pair, regardless of what the ring means. Stefani, who won the Fashion Icon Award for the night, capped her acceptance speech with a shoutout to her boyfriend. "I love you, Blake Shelton, you’re a babe," she told the crowd.
Meanwhile, Shelton, who won for Country Artist, delivered his own slightly saltier ode: "I love the shit out of you," he told his girl.
Although the pair are not an engaged couple (yet!) they are a tennis pair! The couple has been playing tennis together. "We were actually improving," Stefani shared regarding the pair's new hobby. "Actually old people can improve at tennis too." (Of note: Stefani's ex-husband Gavin Rossdale is also a tennis fanatic, who has won accolades for his skill at the sport.)
Shelton will be honored at the 2019 CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 13). The crooner is nominated for Single of the Year for "God's Country," Musical Event of the Year for "Dive Bar" with Garth Brooks and Music Video of the Year for "God's Country."
