Galena, Illinois Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison for Killing HIs Ex-Girlfriend

22 year old Richard L Forsyte of Galena has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend 20-year-old Jennifer Lopez, and dumping her body at the Dubuque Arboretum.  Lopez' body was discovered on February 1st of this year.

Forsythe originally was charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty a lesser charge of second-degree murder last month.

Forsythe must serve at least 70% of his 50-year prison sentence or 35 years. He was also ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to Lopez's family.
