A soap-opera comedy with a flavoring of English playwright Noël Coward will be premiering in the Five Flags Center's Bijou Room on Friday, June 3rd.

Written by Jeffrey Hatcher and loosely based on true events, Ten Chimneys revolves around Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, two Broadway legends who retreat to their summer estate in Wisconsin of the same name. The two collaborate with other actors and family members as they work on a Chekov play while the onset of a romantic triangle starts to mirror their source of inspiration.

Kevin Firnstahl and Lynda Mackie star as Lunt and Fontanne, respectively.

The play, too, serves as Hatcher's homage to the real-life Ten Chimneys locale, a place forever marked by creativity and made special thanks to the large personalities of history who frequented it.

Ten Chimneys is brought to Dubuque by Fly-By-Night-Productions (FBNP), which was co-founded in 1982 with the goal to foster a diverse array of "theatrical opportunities for artists and audiences alike." Their mission statement, according to their website, is to "engage, connect and energize audiences and participant artists in theatre as a shared live experience; to expand that experience through bold, broad repertoire and staging with high artistic excellence to entertain, challenge, and inspire."

Tickets to Ten Chimneys are $20, available at the Five Flags Center box office on Locust Street and online at Ticketmaster (with fees). The show runs June 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th at 7:30pm and June 5th at 2pm. All shows are happening in the Bijou Room at Five Flags.

Kay Schroeder of FBNP was kind enough to call into my show to talk about the upcoming shows. She also added that special showings (June 4th and June 10th) will feature a "Talk Back" with the cast and director following the performance.

You can take a listen to my interview with Schroeder below! You can also stay posted on FBNP with their Facebook page!
