Country superstar Faith Hill is mourning the loss of her father, Ted Perry, who died on Feb. 5, 2019, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn. He was 88 years old.

Born on July 3, 1930, Perry was a resident of Star, Miss., since 1978 and a member of Star Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was a retiree after 37 years of employment with Presto Manufacturing.

Together with his wife, Edna, Perry adopted Hill, whose real name is Audrey Faith Perry, as an infant. The two were married for 59 years, until Edna's death in 2016 at the age of 80. Perry is survived by Hill and her husband, fellow country star Tim McGraw; he is also survived by two sons, Wesley and Steve, their wives, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister, Nell Davis.

According to his obituary, Perry was an outgoing and friendly man who enjoyed "gardening and 'game night' at his church, especially playing dominoes, and he loved going to Donna's Fruit Stand."

On Tuesday (Feb. 12), McGraw posted a remembrance of Perry on Facebook: "Faith's father passed away last week at 88 yrs old," McGraw writes. "He was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle man I've ever known ... No man in my life has ever made such an impact on me as to how to be a human, a father and a friend. I'll never, in 10 lifetimes, be able to live up to his example, but man, he has set a mark that all of us should strive for."

A visitation will be held for Perry at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, Miss., with a private family burial to follow his funeral. Hill has not yet publicly commented on her father's death.
