Eyewitness Says He Saw 2 ‘Strange Beasts’ in This Illinois Creek

09If you grew up in a small rural Illinois community, you know there are some summer days when there's not a lot going on. That changed one August afternoon near Wilburn, Illinois as an eyewitness has shared the story of two "strange beasts" he saw in a nearby creek.

This story comes from a man named Mike who grew up near Wilburn, Illinois back in the 1970's. He says that it was an August night in 1977 when he and a friend were near Crow Creek when they noticed something odd in the water. This is an overhead view of where Mike and his friend were.

Mike and his friend crossed a bridge over Crow Creek when he encountered something odd.

"Came across a bridge and that's when we kind of noticed there was something strange along the banks of the creek...it turned out to be...what we saw...two bipedal creatures. One was probably 8 feet tall...the other one was shorter...maybe 5 feet or 6."

Mike said that the sighting happened right before dusk, but there was still enough light to see this was no bear or wolf they were seeing. The "creatures" were splashing in the water...possibly fishing as there were many Bluegill in Crow Creek. Whatever they were, they didn't notice Mike or his friend. The encounter lasted 3 or 4 minutes. Eventually, the girl that was with Mike screamed and then the creatures looked straight at them...so they took off on their bikes and didn't look back.

When Mike and his friend got home, they told their parents who went back to the bridge to investigate. They did find tracks and detected a foul smell, but the creatures were gone.

What did Mike and his friend see that August night in 1977? Bears and wolves are not seen in that part of Illinois, but...something was in the creek water that night. Whether it was something paranormal or not is something only Mike and his friend know for sure.
