It turns out there won't be a public vote to decide on the expansion of the Dubuque Five Flags Center after all.

Late Monday night, the Dubuque City Council voted 6-0 not to move forward on a public vote on a $92 Million Five Flags expansion project.(the 7th council member, Ric Jones was not present)

Last night's vote is a complete reversal from last month when council members voted 5-2 to have city staff draft language for a public vote.  That public vote was originally slated for March 7.

Council Members instead voted to schedule a work session for July 11 to discuss other options to make less costly improvements and additions to the Center.  The original proposal included the destruction of the current facility and construction of a new larger facility that would include seating for 6400.  Also included were improvements to the existing Five Flags Theatre.
