Daves’ Downtown Conoco Gets a New Owner

Dave Adams, a good friend of mine has been the owner/operator of Dave's Downtown Conoco on Locust Street in Dubuque for more than 35 years.  Dave is selling the business and today is his last day as owner. I've known Dave for the past 10 years through our membership in the Dubuque Sertoma Club .   Dave has also been responsible for the maintenance on my vehicles for most of that 10 years.  Dave always greeted me and all of his customers with a friendly smile and a handshake.   He's a straight shooter that does good work at a fair price.  You may have heard horror stories about other mechanics in other towns, but that was never the case with Dave.  The good news is one of Dave's employees has purchased the business so you'll still be able to get your car serviced.  Dave will be missed as a mechanic but it's good to know I'll still have him as a friend.  And someone I can give a hard time to with my goofy one-liners.   Enjoy your retirement Dave....I plan to raise an  ice cold beverage in your honor this weekend.
