Several hours after Dubuque native Ian Mosser was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 4th round of the Major League Baseball draft on Monday, another tri-state area baseball stand out got the call.

Theo Denlinger who was born in Dubuque but played high school baseball at Cuba City High School in Wisconsin was drafted in the 7th round.  Denlinger, a pitcher, won't have to travel far when he makes it to big leagues as he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox.

In high school Denlinger earned 12 Varsity letters (4 each in baseball, basketball, and football).  He also threw four no-hitters AND two perfect games.

Denlinger then spent two seasons at Madison College before heading to Bradley University in Peoria, IL.  In three seasons as a Bradley Brave, mostly as a relief pitcher, he had 48 strikeouts in 44 innings and notched 13 saves. Denlinger finished with an ERA of 4.30.

Denlinger was a 2nd team all Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2019 and received honorable mention this season.
