Chris Lane is a soon-to-be married man! The country singer shared the happy news on Tuesday (June 18) that he had officially popped the question to his girlfriend, Bachelor alum Lauren Bushnell.

According to People, Lane proposed on Sunday (June 16) during a cookout in the backyard of her family's home -- but not before clearing the idea of a Father's Day proposal with Bushnell's dad. "I was initially worried that doing it on Father's Day might not be the best move, but her dad, Dave, said that it could only add to his Father's Day and that's when I decided that Sunday, June 16 was the best day," the singer relates. "Shout-out to Lauren's parents, Dave and Kris, for having the yard in tip-top shape!"

Lane made his proposal special by playing a song he'd written for Bushnell, titled "Big Big Plans." The song's lyrics were personalized to the situation, and began to come true when he knelt during the line, "Right now we're back in her hometown / and I'm down on one knee.."

"Even though I was pretty confident I was gonna get the 'yes,' I've never been that nervous," he tells People. "When I got to the third verse of the song and knew it was time, I pretty much blacked out. The next thing I knew, she said 'yes,' and the nerves just lifted! It's an explosion of excitement, pure joy and love."

Much of the wedding planning will fall to Bushnell, as Lane is gearing up for a busy year out on the road. While Bushnell describes herself as "the world's worst planner," she admits she has a few ideas about what kinds of festivities she wants to include.

"I have never really thought about what kind of wedding I would want, but I definitely want it to be laid-back and somewhat intimate," Bushnell says. "Oh, and late-night snacks. I'm all about having snacks after hitting the dance floor all night!"
