Celebrate Galena Oktoberfest with Lots of Brats, Beer and Polka

The countdown clock on the Galena Lions Club website is quickly ticking off the seconds until the 15th Annual Oktoberfest party gets started in Depot Park this Saturday. 

Galena's Oktoberfest is a community celebration of German heritage, weiner dogs, friendly competitions, great music, polka dancing, delicious food, and cold beer!

The 15th Annual Galena Oktoberfest Features:

• The Ceremonial Tapping of the Keg 
• Non-stop Live Music
• Famous Wiener Dog Races
• Polka Lessons and Dancing
• The Beer Stein Endurance Contest
• Pumpkin Decorating and Fun Games for Kids
• GREAT FOOD AND BEER

The festivities get underway at 9 am with the Midwest Health and Fitness Center 5K Walk/Run (register at midwestmedicalcenter.org)

The 2022 WIENER DOG RACES will qualify dogs of varying ages. Racing in a single-elimination format throughout the day leads to 3 (three) champions—one champion in each age division.

GERMAN FARE & FOOD The Galena Elks Club serves traditional German fare throughout the day. The menu includes bratwurst & frankfurters. In addition, Orchard Landing will have pretzels, and Otto's Place will offer plates featuring brats and a sweet potato hash. Also, BIRDS-SERIOUS CHICKEN will be there from 11:30 am to 2 pm.

BEER & DRINKS The Lions Beer Tent will have traditional Marzen-Style German Lagers, Golden, Amber, and IPAs from Potosi and Galena Brewing Company. Lighter lagers & beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Galena Oktoberfest is an annual fundraiser event hosted by the Galena Lions Club. Its mission is to serve in keeping with the Lions' community involvement, international cooperation, and environmental protection traditions.
