Burn big calories at Dubuque’s 50th annual Turkey Trot fun run
Thanksgiving Dinner is typically a massive feast for many folks. Therefore it is an excellent reason to run the 50th Annual Wahlert Catholic High School Turkey Trot.
Burning a few calories before your Thanksgiving dinner can tremendously benefit your waistline. Still, more importantly, it is a lot of fun and a great way to start the holiday festivities.
Gather your family and friends for this annual Thanksgiving Day Dubuque tradition.
Important race details include the following: The entry fee is $15, and ages six and up are qualified to participate.
Preregister is available online, and you may do that with registration in the Wahlert Catholic gym 6:30 pm-8 pm Wednesday, November 23rd, and just before the race from 7:30-8:45 am Thursday, November 24th.
At the above times, pre-registered runners and walkers may also pick up their bib number and commemorative shirt if they ordered one for an additional $20.
Race Time: 9:00 am 2.5 miles and 5-mile races will begin simultaneously. The same course applies—however, the 5-mile course repeats.
Certificates for a turkey go to the first-place finishers in each age division of the two races.
It's not unusual for one thousand or more runners, trotters, and walkers to participate in the long-running Dubuque road race. While some seasoned runners are in it to win it with impressive times under 15-minutes, many more are just as happy to be part of the fun and get some exercise before the day's feasts get underway.
Start in front of Mazzuchelli Catholic at 2005 Kane Street, head east on Kane St., go left on Balboa Dr., then left on North Grandview, then left on W 32nd St, go right, then left on Carter Rd. Then go left on Kane St back to Wahlert Catholic for the finish.
