A couple of guys who know their way around Des Moines are returning this summer.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn make up Brooks & Dunn, perhaps the most frequent visitors to the grandstand stage in the long history of the Iowa State Fair.

The best-selling duo in the history of country music, Brooks & Dunn has over 30 million albums sold and 23 #1 songs. According to the Iowa State Fair, they haven't played at the fair in more than a dozen years. Believe me, that's a lengthy break for these two, who will be back on stage in Des Moines on Friday, August 12.

The Iowa State Fair shared with me just how frequently Brooks & Dunn performed there in the early years of their career. In their first Iowa State Fair appearance in 1992, Brooks & Dunn opened for Country Music Hall of Famer Randy Travis. Kix and Ronnie returned in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1999. In the 2000s, they made four more trips to Iowa's capital city, performing at the Iowa State Fair in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2009. Add 'em all up and 2022 will be the 10th time the duo has performed at the fair. Oh, and just for good measure, Ronnie Dunn made a solo appearance in 2011.

Brooks & Dunn will be joined at their Des Moines show by Alex Miller, from Season 19 of American Idol.
