Brett Young Re-Tools ‘Don’t Wanna Write This Song’ for Acoustic Session [Watch]
Brett Young has released a re-imagined version of his song "Don't Wanna Write This Song." The re-tooled acoustic track comes from his upcoming EP, The Acoustic Sessions.
"Maybe the hardest part / Is we didn't break this heart / Nobody cheated or lied / I still have to live with goodbye / But how can I just move on? / I've loved you for way too long / I don't want to admit that you're gone / I don't wanna write this song," Young croons in the chorus. The newly arranged track puts an added focus on the song's heart-wrenching story.
Young's new version of "Don't Wanna Write This Song" features co-writer and longtime collaborator Sean McConnell. The pair recorded the stripped-down version at Blackbird Studios in Nashville.
Young's new The Acoustic Sessions EP will debut on Sept. 13, via Big Machine. "Don't Wanna Write This Song" serves as fans' second taste of the album: Young previously released an acoustic rendition of and video of himself recording "Catch."
The songs on The Acoustic Sessions have been selected from Young's latest studio album, Ticket to L.A. Other re-imagined tracks on the project will include "Here Tonight" and his collaboration with Gavin DeGraw, "Chapters."
Young will be performing on ABC's CMA Fest: The Music Event of Summer special, airing on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 8PM ET. Young also earned a Teen Choice Awards nomination for Choice Country Artist; he's up against Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves, Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett for the award.
