It's that time of year when lots of folks get a tax refund.  The question is what to do with the money?
Some will spend it on something for themselves.  Others will try to create a next egg.  I'm not getting a refund this year, but in years past when I did, I would try to put most of it in my saving's account and spend a little on myself.  How about you?  If you are getting a refund, what do you plan to do with it?  Here's a few suggestions from Iowa Credit Unions

  • Save it. Rather than spending tax refund money right away, put the money into a savings account and build on it each month.
  • Invest it. Use tax refund money as a down payment on a reliable vehicle. The larger the down payment, the less your monthly payments will set you back.
  • Make a cushion. Keep tax refund money in your checking account as a cushion for when finances get tight.
  • Pay down debt. Spend the money to pay down debt and get your credit in good standing.
