Ken Peiffer

I was born and raised in the area(Cascade, IA). Been involved in radio since 1983 and have worked for WJOD since 1988. Happily married to my wife Shari since 1986(you'll have to ask her if she agrees on the "happily" part). We have 4 children, 2 boys & 2 girls, and 2 granddaughters I like to talk(go figure) and have even been known to talk in my sleep(you know what they say practice makes perfect). I love going to country concerts and have been lucky enough to have met a ton a country artists including Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, & Rascal Flatts. Best part of my job is everyday is different. You never know from one day to the next what's going to happen. I have a great sense of humor and enjoy entertaining people. I also enjoy golf, football(watching not playing), and an occassional cold beverage or two. I'd tell you my favorite book but to be honest I haven't read one in a long time(my apologies to my high school English teachers). I host a weekly country dance every Wednesday night from 7p-11pm at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. Come out and say "hey" this week.

Holiday Weekend Travel Tips

  1. Check construction activity for your planned route. Visit for detailed information.
  2. Give your car a regular tune-up, which makes sure your engine is running fuel efficiently.
  3. Keep at least half a tank of gasoline in your vehicle at all times.  Also, make sure all necessary fluids, such as windshield wiper fluid, remain at adequate levels.
  4. Drive slowly.  Things take longer when there is increased traffic, which can lead to increased stress. Take frequent breaks to walk around and refresh. High speeds are not only dangerous but they also decrease fuel mileage.
  5. Use cruise control when it is safe to do so. Using cruise control on wet roads is not recommended.
  6. Keep tires inflated properly.
  7. Check or replace wiper blades. After the heavy toll imposed by winter driving condition and spring rains, windshield wipers are likely to be ragged from use and ready to be replaced.
  8. Check Your Cooling System. Examine your coolant level to make sure it's adequate.
  9. Avoid driving when fatigued.
  10. Plan your rout
