Special Law Enforcement Labor Day Weekend

As we kickoff Labor Day Weekend today, just a quick reminder to celebrate responsibly. You work hard all year at your job, your studies, and your family life.  You need to work even harder to stay safe.  If you plan to drink this weekend be sure to get a designated driver or call a cab.  If someone you're riding with has had too much to drink, offer to drive them home or call them a cab.  Whatever you do, don't get into a vehicle with someone who has been drinking.  Also remember the Dubuque police will be conducting special foot/vehicular patrols and enforcement specifically focused on underage, alcohol-related, social gatherings.  This project will span several weeks, with officers being increasingly vigilant for gatherings that appear to promote social disorder, underage/excessive alcohol consumption, disturbing the peace, and similar issues. While enforcement remains an option for officers, education and understanding will also be a priority.
