On April 1st, 2015, at 7:35 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to a report of multiple shots fired in Jackson Park (1500 block of Iowa Street).  Upon officers’ arrival, several individuals were observed running from the area.  Cameras in the area captured some of the activity and enabled police to identify some of the vehicles and individuals involved.  Several interviews were also conducted with those present in the park but not directly involved in the incident.  Officers also located shell cases and property damage consistent with bullet impact; however no one is believed to have been injured.

The investigation led officers to Zoro’s Gyro Restaurant at 1400 Central Avenue where it was believed some of the involved individuals fled.  As officers entered the restaurant, Vincent K. Williams Jr., 16, of 620½ West Locust Street, Dubuque, appeared to be attempting to evade officers by walking toward the restroom while holding his waistband.  Officers detained Williams and located 2 loaded handguns on his person.  Williams was arrested for 2 counts of Carrying Weapons and held in detention authority Juvenile Court Services.  Carrying Weapons is an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $625 and $6,250, and imprisonment up to 2 years.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Dubuque Police Department at 563-589-4410 or 563-589-4415.
