Scam in Jo Daviess County

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a phone scam currently occurring in Jo Daviess County. 

The phone scam is a phone call informing individuals that the U.S. Treasury Department has filed a lawsuit against the individual and they need to make immediate payment over the phone.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office urges the public to exercise extreme caution if they receive telephone calls of this nature.  Also, do NOT agree to transfer money to anyone unless you are absolutely certain of the identity of the recipient.
