More Fireworks Would Be Legal Under New Proposal.

A new law allowing more types of fireworks in Iowa is not a law yet but has gotten a little closer this week.Under the new proposal that passed an Iowa Senate Committee on Wednesday February 11th, Bottle rockets, Roman candles, aerial spinners and many other types of consumer-grade fireworks would be legal. Representatives of a multitude of public health entities — hospitals, emergency services, specialist physicians — expressed their opposition to the proposal, citing public safety.

Under current state law, nearly all consumer fireworks are illegal to use.  Possession of many of these types of fireworks is currently illegal in the City of Dubuque.
