Lady Antebellum Win the Throwback Game With Awesome Charles Kelley Flashback

Dreams do come true. #CMAawards #TBT @dariusrucker –ck

Charles Kelley accomplished a lifelong dream on Wednesday evening (Nov. 8) at the CMA Awards when Lady Antebellum took the stage to assist Darius Rucker on the opening performance of “Hold My Hand.” Little did Rucker know, Kelley had performed the song many times before as a kid.

In a video Kelley posted to Instagram on Thursday (Nov. 9), the singer wins #ThrowbackThursday. A young Charles Kelley is shown rehearsing with his band and the song is none other than Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Hold My Hand.”

In the short clip, Kelley can be seen singing lead in a childhood bedroom accompanied by another young drummer and guitar player. The video then segues to Lady Antebellum’s performance with Rucker on Wednesday night, of the very same song.

“Dreams do come true. #CMAawards #TBT @dariusrucker,” Kelley captions the cute clip.

Rucker’s response? “Man! Love u guys. This gave me chills man,” he wrote on Twitter, clearly flattered by the clip.

Rucker teamed up with Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Eric Church for the CMA Awards opener on Wednesday evening. Towards the end of the song, though, pretty much every A-list country artist then joined the group on stage to help finish the song. Little Big Town, Brooks and Dunn, Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Kelsea Ballerini and Luke Bryan could be spotted during the performance, transforming the iconic Hootie & the Blowfish hit to a massive and memorable country collaboration.
