You make want to look at your money a little closer. Counterfeit bills are showing up in Dubuque. Here's the release from the Dubuque Police Department.

Within the past 2 weeks, Dubuque Police have received several reports of counterfeit currency circulating in the community.  Counterfeit bills have been passed at a variety of local businesses including convenience stores, restaurants, and department stores.  The fake currency varies in denomination and includes ten, twenty, fifty and one hundred dollar bills.  Police are asking citizens, merchants and financial institution personnel to be vigilant and carefully examine incoming currency whenever possible.  At a minimum, two-stage verification testing is recommended (example: using a counterfeit detection marker and checking for the embedded denomination band).  More recommendations for detecting counterfeit currency are available on the Secret Service website:

Anyone receiving what they believe to be counterfeit currency should notify local law enforcement as soon as possible, retain the bill(s) in question, and try to get a description of the person(s) passing the currency and/or any vehicles involved.
