All of the Tri-states woke up to snow on the ground.  Some as little as a trace, some with several inches. I know when I woke up, I got completely dressed to go for my morning walk outside...then realized it had snowed and was very icy.  I ended up putting on shorts and a t-shirt and worked out on the treadmill in my basement.  It got me thinking back to that huge snowstorm in April of 1973.  I was only 8 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday.  We were off school for 4 days.  The only way out of our house was a back porch door.  All of our other doors were blocked with 4 to 5 feet snowdrifts.  We had our pop up camper parked in the our driveway and it was completely buried in over 4 feet of snow.  If you would like to look back on that huge storm CLICK HERE.  By the way March snow is not unusual with Dubuque getting an average of almost 4 inches.  The April average is 1.2 inches.  Needless to say the 19.2 inches in April 1973 was a record setter.  So even though you were like most of tri-states, disgusted with today's snowfall...it could be worse...a lot worse.
