Aaron Rodgers Takes Shot at Iowa Football After Ugly Win Against Wisconsin

There's no mincing words about it: the Iowa Hawkeyes' 15-6 victory over the heavily favored Wisconsin Badgers this past weekend was grimy, ugly, gritty, and every other unsavory adjective you could possibly apply. No less, a win is a win, and the Hawkeyes sit atop the Big Ten West with a 6-1 record.

That didn't stop Aaron Rodgers from taking a couple shots at the Hawkeyes during his guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week. Rodgers, who is 39-years-old, is nursing an Achilles injury he suffered during the opening drive of his debut with the New York Jets last month. No less, he's been as talkative as ever amidst his rehab.

On The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers addressed show producer/University of Iowa grad Ty Schmit when commenting on the Hawkeyes' win:

Rodgers: [....]You excited about the big 15-6 barnburner that happened this weekend?

Schmit: Hell yeah, brother, we'll see you in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship, Aaron!

Rodgers: Yeah, I don't know if they're going to make it, but...

Schmit: They will. They will.

Rodgers: Shoutout to huge, entertaining win...

McAfee: Old school football! Old school football up there in Iowa! Big Ten West, I love it!

I was in attendance at Camp Randall Stadium at the site of that "barnburner," which was about as thrilling as the score suggested. Iowa QB Deacon Hill had one passing yard in the second half of the game, yet the Hawkeyes were still able to win via the help of field goals and exceptional punting.

The only major play of the game was running back Leshon Williams' 82-yard touchdown run in the first half.

Early in the second quarter, Wisconsin was forced to turn to backup quarterback Braedyn Locke when Tanner Mordecai took himself out of the game with a hand injury. Broadcast feeds caught him mouthing what looked like "I can't throw!" to his sideline. It was revealed earlier this week that Mordecai suffered a broken hand and will be sidelined indefinitely.

Rodgers has expressed a desire to rehab at an accelerated pace in hopes to be back on the field by Week 15 for the Jets at the earliest. That would be unprecedented for a 39-year-old, who just tore his Achilles, which generally takes up to six months. If Rodgers were to return in Week 15, that means he would've only need three months.

Back to Iowa: beatable opponents in the form of Minnesota, Illinois, and Nebraska still on the schedule, and the stout Hawkeye defense not allowing a touchdown in five of their games this year, there's reason for optimism that Iowa could make the Big Ten Playoffs. They currently sit at 6-1, atop the Big Ten West.

Don't tell that to Aaron Rodgers, however.
