Starting this week, Southwest Health is hosting a vaccine clinic where patients can get their flu shot, and COVID booster too. Starting this Wednesday, September 28th, both are being offered from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

Throughout the month of October, Southwest Health will host the clinic Mondays from 3:30 to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To make an appointment for flu shots, either with or without a COVID Booster, call the Platteville Clinic at Southwest Health at (608) 348-4330.

If you are concerned about receiving both vaccines on the same day, the CDC says it's safe to receive multiple vaccines at the same time. Stay up-to-date with routine vaccinations with your flu shot. If someone wants to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot simultaneously, request it when making your appointment.

The exact definition of Influenza (offered shorted to just the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by a virus and can cause mild to severe illness and even death. The flu is different from a cold and usually comes on suddenly. People often experience fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults. Some people, people 65 and older, young children, and those with certain health conditions are at high-risk for serious flu complications.
