Last week I noticed a City of Dubuque worker removing temporary yard signs from the roadway....

It got me thinking...where can I legally place my yard sign. The exact rules and regulations are available through the City of Dubuque, but here is a quick view.  According to a City of Dubuque ordinance...you CANNOT place any sign between the curb and the sidewalk.  That is considered the "Right of Way"  Example below. In the case of yard sale signs, the signs are only allowed on the property hosing the event so the sign below is also in violation for this reason.

You are also NOT ALLOWED to attached you sign/poster to a city street sign or telephone pole.  Example below.

In the case of Yard Sale signs, the signs are only allowed on the property hosing the event and can be displayed for a maximum of 3 days

Yard signs ARE permitted on private property provided you have permission from the homeowner and they are NOT in the Right of Way.  The photos below show the correct placement of signs.  If you have a specific question about where to put your sign, contact the City of Dubuque
