Thursday February 7th

The Asbury Eagles Club will host Burger Night from 5pm-8pm. Proceeds going to the Dubuque Sting Rays Softball Team. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and younger.

The Band Tapestry will perform from 5p-8pm at Inspire Café located at 955 Washington Street. There is no cover charge, but donations will be accepted for the YMCA/YWCA Victims Shelter Service

Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena will host the Special Olympics Illinois Winter Games starting at 9am. Today is the final day of competition. The public is invited and encouraged to attend any and all parts of the Winter Games. A tentative schedule of competition times can be found at soill.org

Friday February 8th

 Donkey Basketball is coming to Andrew, Iowa! New rodeo stars will be born during the wild and crazy Dairyland Donkey Basketball Show at Andrew School Gymnasium in Andrew, Iowa on Friday, February 8th at 7:00 pm! .Advance tickets are available at the Andrew School Main Office and Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa for $7.00 each. Preschool and under are free. Tickets will also be available at the door for $10. Concessions will be available. St. Luke’s Fabulous Fridays Free Artist Series is held from noon till 12:30pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church 1199 Main Street. Coffee & desserts follow in Fellowship Hall. Donations accepted for People In Need & church’s Jesus Fund
Saturday February 9th
It’s Character Appreciation Night when The Dubuque Fighting Saints play the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders. Puck drops at 7:05pm. This is a fundraiser to support Two by Two Character Development. More information and tickets available at dubuquefightingsaints.com
The Dubuque Museum of Art’s February Second Saturday will feature a performance by the magician Bob Beardsley from 1pm-2pm. Second Saturdays are free and family-oriented programming.
Sunday February 10th
A Waffle Breakfast will be held from 8am till 11:30am in the Wahlert Gymnasium Kehl Family Commons. Music will be performed by students and there will also be a student art show.
The Asbury Eagles Club is hosting a Breakfast Buffet from 8am till noon. Proceeds will benefit Eagles Charities. ($9 for adults and $4 for kids under 10)
Monday February 11th
Dubuque Noon Lions club is sponsoring a community night at the Pizza's Ranch on Monday, February 11 from 5 to 8.  All tips that evening go to the Lions Club.  Club members will be the wait staff for evening. One hundred percent of donations given to the Lions club are used for our programs and charitable contributions to organizations all the time.
Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will hold a Blood Drive from 2:30pm-6pm  at the Key West Fire Department located at 10640 Lake Eleanor Rd.
Tuesday February 12th

Babies and their caregivers are welcome to participate in a 30-minute tour of the Dubuque Museum of Art exhibitions, focused on shapes, colors and textures. Tour starts at 9am. Baby and Me tours are offered every month. Advance registration required. Register by calling the museum. (563) 557-1851.

Toddlers ages 3-5, accompanied by a parent or grandparent, are invited to the Dubquue Museum of Art to create art at 2pm. Tuition is $3 per child per session. All supplies are furnished. Please call Margaret at (563) 557- 1851 Monday-Friday, or email mbuhr@dbqart.com to enroll a student. You must register by noon the day before.

St. John’s Placid Catholic Church will host a Fish Fry from 4:30pm-8pm with Cod prepared by Far Fry. Dinner is $11 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5 to 10 and carry-outs available for $12. (Also, fresh & frozen homemade pies for sale.

The 2019 American Cancer Society Relay for Life Community Kick-off Celebration will be held at the Roshek Building at 5:30pm. For more information contact the ACS at (888) 266-2071.

Friday February 15th

The Rotary Club of Dubuque presents: “Steppin’ in the Name of Love” 7pm at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of dance. They can be purchased at the Fairgrounds or through the Rotary Club Facebook page. Doors open at 6:00pm. Free lessons will be available until 7:00pm and dancing begins at 7:00pm. (Money raised goes to Rotary Humanitarian Grants)

The 8th Annual Dubuque On Ice Brewfest will be held at 1pm at the Mystique Community Ice Center. There will be over 50 vendors and over 100 samples including craft beer , coffee, wine, distilleries and food. Tickets are $35/$40/$55. All proceeds to charity.

The Fever River Puppeteers’ show “River Critters” will be performed at 11:00am and 2:00pm at the Hazel Green Opera House, 2130 Main Street. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children at the door only. Doors open a half hour before each performance.

The Great River Wind Symphony will present its yearly concert in the John and Alice Butler Hall at 7:30pm. The 100-member wind symphony is comprised of musicians from the University of Dubuque, Clarke University, and Loras College. The ensemble performs both standard and contemporary wind literature

Anna McAuliffe’s MDA Team 5th annual Soup Supper and Baked Potato Bar will be at the Holy Cross/North Buena Vista Fire Department building starting at 4:30pm. Cost for the meal is a free will donation. There will be also be a silent auction. (Any donations will be accepted for the meal or the auction. Contact Brenda to donate at (563) 870-2304)

The Dubuque Heritage center presents "Stomp" a show that has been seen all over the world. An eight-member cast creates music with both household and industrial objects. Tuesday February 26th

Charles Barland, Professor of Music and Head of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Dubuque, performs his annual organ recital at 7pm at the Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. The University of Dubuque Concert Choir will also present a few pieces.

University of Dubuque musicians will hold a concert at 7pm at Sinsinawa Mound featuring a variety of musical styles and repertoire performed by organist Dr. Charles Barland and the UD Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Thursday February 28th

The Asbury Eagles Club will host Chicken Night from 5pm till 8pm with proceeds going to our local Make-A-Wish. Dinner is $11 for a 4 piece meal and $9 for a 2 piece meal.

St. Donatus Catholic Church is holding a Steak Fry and Social from 4:30pm till 8pm in their Parish Center. Menu includes your choice of a ribeye or 2 grilled chicken breast with sides prepared by Kalmes Restaurant. Make-A-Wish Iowa’s Dubuque Gala “Bow Ties & Diamonds” will be held at the Grand River Center. Cocktail hour and silent auction begin at 5:00pm followed by dinner, entertainment, live auction and dancing with music from Elizabeth Mary & Bryce Michael. Dress is evening attire. Corned beef & cabbage dinner 5:00-7:30 p.m.at the Eagle’s Club on Century Dr.(behind Kennedy Mall). $9.00 for adults. $4.50 for children 11 & under. All proceeds benefit the Veterans Freedom Center

 

Tuesday March 12th

The documentary “City of Trees” will be screened at 6:30pm at Sinsinawa Mound. The film will be followed by discussion. This 75-minute documentary explores the Washington D.C. “green jobs” program meant to employ the city’s long-term unemployed.

Saturday March 23rd

A Benefit for Becky Spillane will be held starting at 2pm at the New Galena ARC located at 11084 Hwy 20 W. Proceeds will help with medical bills.

Friday April 12th

Trivia Night at the Meadows Golf Course at 7pm. COST: $18/person IN ADVANCE;
