Text Scam in Dubuque

The Dubuque Police and numerous area financial institutions have received reports of a text scam circulating in the area as of Friday May 1, 2015.  Targeted individuals receive a text stating: “Your_CHECK/CARD has been_BLOCKED!. Please_Click_to continue..

-> www.bongoposts.com/adm.wls.fargocustomer-support.html”.  Recipients are urged to immediately delete the message and block the sender if possible.  Never open links within text messages or emails unless you are absolutely sure the sender is safe, and remember, email address and cellular/telephone numbers can be fabricated or altered to appear as though the sender is safe/familiar.  As always, never provide sensitive information (personal, account, etc.) over the phone, via email or text - especially if you did not initiate the contact.
